Bariatric Weight Loss Services
At North Okaloosa Medical Center, we understand how challenging weight loss can be. We also know that it’s not too late to take control.
If you're struggling with severe obesity, and repeated dieting and exercise just haven't worked, a bariatric (weight loss) procedure may be the solution for you. In fact, when combined with a treatment plan, weight loss surgery is the most effective option to combat severe obesity and maintain long-term weight loss, according to the National Institutes of Health.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 40% of American adults are obese, increasing their risk for heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain cancers. Beyond health risks, extra weight can keep you from living an active and happy life.
Our dedicated metabolic and bariatric surgery program offers proven solutions and compassionate support when traditional options haven’t worked.
Personalized Care to Help You Feel and Live Your Best
Our bariatric surgery program includes a specially trained team of professionals who will work closely with you and your primary care physician to create a personalized weight loss plan that promotes your physical and emotional well-being.
Of course, support doesn’t end when your surgical procedure does. From pre- to post-op and after, the bariatric team will be with you throughout your weight loss journey. Weight loss surgery is a lifelong commitment, and you can find peace of mind knowing that follow-up care is close to home. North Okaloosa Medical Center offers education and support to encourage and empower you through every step of your journey, not just the surgery itself.
You may be a candidate for bariatric surgery if you:

- Have a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or above

FAQs
Is bariatric surgery the right choice for you?
Undergoing weight loss surgery is a major decision that will permanently alter your life. To be successful, you must be prepared to make permanent changes to many of your present behaviors, pre- and post-op. People who make these lifestyle changes achieve significant weight loss and experience better health, greater mobility and improved self-esteem and self-confidence.
How much weight can you expect to lose with bariatric surgery?
Your final weight loss depends on multiple factors including your starting weight, the current state of your health and your ability to adhere to lifestyle changes. The more effort you put in, the more successful you will be at achieving and maintaining optimal weight loss.
Which weight loss surgery is better for me?
This is a common question. Each surgical approach has different weight loss profiles and the amount of data available on long-term weight loss varies. Many factors go into making a decision about which bariatric procedure is best suited for you. Your preferences and goals for weight and restoration of health are important factors in helping you make the correct decision. During your initial bariatric consultation, we would be happy to discuss all weight loss surgery options with you in more detail and recommend the best option for your individual needs.
